Employment Specialist Officers provide vital support and a point of contact for people with Down Syndrome in their journey to gain meaningful paid employment. Our Employment Specialist Officer for the Louth Meath Branch is:
Gemma McMahon
Gemma is the branch’s employment officer. Gemma has over 10 years experience supporting children, adolescents and adults with a variety of additional needs.
Gemma’s role within the branch is to support the adult members to source meaningful paid employment by securing partnerships with employers. The introduction of the employment programme within the branch follows on from the fantastic work being done nationally and the aim is to make the programme just as successful at a local level.
Gemma works hands on with the members, meeting with them and identifying their specific requirements when looking for employment. She also provides pre-employment training to members to ensure they are prepared for the world of work. Gemma is continuous point of contact for the employers and members and will provide any support required to ensure a successful collaboration. She will also support members with any work related training that they may be required to complete. Gemma also provides Down Syndrome Awareness training to employers and their staff teams.
