Our Next Steps After 18 – Independence Workshop is designed to provide clear, practical information and supportive guidance during this key transition period.

🎤 Workshop Facilitator

This session will be led by Gina Grant, Branch Advocacy Coordinator with Down Syndrome Ireland, who brings extensive experience supporting individuals and families navigating adulthood and advocacy services.


📚 What Will Be Covered?

The workshop will explore:

  • Transitioning into adulthood – understanding both practical and emotional supports
  • Options after 18 – education, employment, supported living, and community participation
  • 2023 legislation on decision-making support and rights
  • Entitlements and supports available to long-term carers
  • Online safety – staying safe and avoiding scams

This session is designed to be interactive, giving parents and caregivers the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity on available supports.
