Irish Athletes compete in the 8th IAADS Open European Athletic Championships 2025

Elisha Gallagher and Liam Foley are training intensively in preparation for the IAADS European championships in Prague in July. Both athletes are experienced international competitors having competed for Ireland in the European Championship in Italy in 2023.

Participation in the IAADS European championship is self-funded with support from our local Louth Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.

After strong performances in the highly competitive sprint events in Padua, Italy, Elisha is rated 30th in 200m and 50th in 100m in the IAADS World Ranking for women (T21 Down syndrome)

Elisha, a leaving cert applied student, trains with Metro St. Brigids AC and competes in mainstream Dublin athletics events and in Special Olympics.

Meath athlete, Liam Foley, trains with Trim AC and is a seasoned competitor in road races enjoying all distances from 5km to half marathon. He returned from the 2023 Euros as the gold medal winner in 800m and 1500m, having set a new European 800m record. Liam added more gold on the world stage in Turkey 2024 with 800m and 1500m wins in the Trisome Games – the Olympics of Down syndrome sports.

Participation in the IAADS European championship is self-funded with support from Down syndrome Louth/Meath branch.
