Sibling Support Workshops (Sibshops)

Saturday, 20th June 2026
Drogheda Presbyterian Church
2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
The Down Syndrome Ireland Louth Meath Branch is delighted to offer a Sibling Support Workshop (Sibshop) for the brothers and sisters of our members.
The workshops will be facilitated by Liz Fitzpatrick and Linda Foley, both experienced nurses working with children with an intellectual disability. Liz and Linda are qualified Sibshop Facilitators and have extensive experience delivering these enjoyable and supportive workshops for siblings of children with additional needs.
Sibshops provide a unique opportunity for siblings to:
- Meet other children who have a brother or sister with special needs
- Share experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment
- Talk about both the challenges and the positives of having a sibling with additional needs
- Take part in fun games, activities and group discussions
While the focus is on having fun, the workshops also help siblings realise they are not alone and provide a valuable opportunity to connect with others who understand their experiences.
Who Can Attend?
The workshops are open to:
- Siblings of Down Syndrome Ireland Louth Meath Branch members
- Children aged 7 to 13 years
- Families where the child with Down syndrome is over 2½ years of age, helping siblings to better understand and discuss their brother or sister’s additional needs
Cost
These workshops are free of charge for branch members.
