The World Down Syndrome Day #RockYourSocks #LotsOfSocks4DSI campaign exists to raise awareness of Down syndrome. All you need to do is choose some socks that are going to get noticed. Get your friends, classmates and colleagues to join in too. 
World Down Syndrome Day is Tuesday 21st March and we in Down Syndrome Ireland Louth Meath Branch invite you to “Rock Your Socks 4 DSILMB”.

We want you to wear the loudest socks you can find, and wear them with pride to support people with Down Syndrome.
If you are a business, you and your colleagues, managers or even customers could get involved with a bucket collection on the counter or in the office.  If you are a school, you could hold a Rock Your Socks Day with every teacher and student getting involved.

We are organising a World Down Syndrome Day Coffee Morning and get-together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.
When: Saturday 25th March 2023

Theme: Rock your Socks
All you need to do is choose some socks that are going to get noticed – they might be mismatched socks or your craziest and most colourful socks, whatever takes your fancy!
Where: Conyngham Arms Hotel Slane
The Brickx Club will attend, for all budding engineers, young and old.(All LEGO Bricks sanitised before use)☕☕

MEET UP

Sibling support – Sibshop Workshop

Saturday 25th February 2023 in Drogheda Presbyterian Church from 2.00 – 4.30 pm.

The Workshops are carried out by Liz Fitzpatrick & Linda Foley, both Nurses working with children with an Intellectual disability. They are qualified Sibshop Facilitators and run Sibshop workshops which are afternoons of fun for siblings of children with special needs.

As well as having lots of fun it provides a great opportunity for siblings to get together and chat about some of the difficulties and the positives of having a sibling with Special Needs.

The workshops are for our member’s Siblings aged between 7 & 13 and the members with Down Syndrome should be over 2.5 years old so that the Siblings can see and understand that their brother or sister has special needs.

These Sibshops are free to our members.

Employment Morning

We held a “Louth/Meath Employment Morning” on the 17th of February.

Adults with Down syndrome, parents/family members & key/support workers were welcomed on the day.

It took place from 10am-1pm in the D Hotel, Marsh Rd, Drogheda, Co.Louth, A92 HF5F.

The morning gave us an opportunity to tell you about our Employment Programme, but also to find out the interests of members locally in relation to work.

Schedule: 10am – arrive, tea, coffee & scones

10.30 – Employment talk for adults with Down syndrome, parents & support workers -Q&A & discussion about local employers -Complete employment questionnaires to gather info & create a database of job seekers

11.30 – Employment skills workshop (for adults with Down syndrome only)

1.00 – Finish

Coffee Morning Get Togethers

Ark play centre in Pudding Hill


We would like to invite you to our February monthly coffee morning.


These monthly meetups aim to create an opportunity for parents and their children to meet up regularly in a fun environment.


The August coffee morning will be held at Ark play centre in Pudding Hill Moorepark, Puddenhill, Co. Meath, A42 Y046 on Sunday 26th February from 10 am to 12:30 pm.


(Coffee and tea are available for purchase at the venue)


The prices are €5 and free for parents.
