Pound the Pavements

Description

Down Syndrome Ireland Louth Meath Branch in association with LMFM is holding a Fundraising Event called Pound the Pavements to raise vital funds for the Branch.

Pound the Pavements runs from 10 – 30 June 2021 and the funds raised will go directly towards our vital education programmes provided to our members in the Louth Meath Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland, including our early intervention and adult education programmes.

How to Register

You can register for the Event on myrunresults.

There will also be an option to donate further or to set up an iDonate page for the event to raise funds for the Branch.

When you register, there is also the chance to purchase optional merchandise for the event.

What are we doing?

We are asking friends, family and members of the local communities across Louth and Meath to join us in our virtual summer event – Pound the Pavements – to help raise much needed funds for DSI’s Louth Meath Branch.

When is this happening?

Over 21 days from 10th – 30th (inclusive) June 2021

Who can take part?

We are inviting all family, friends – at home and overseas – as well as members of our local communities across Louth and Meath to take part in this virtual event.

Dress up in purple and green and help us create a sea of walkers and runners across every town, village and road in Louth and Meath to Pound the Pavements over 21 km for the local Louth Meath Branch.

How can you take part?

This is a virtual event. Walk or run – you decide. The activity and pace for this event is entirely up to you. The goal is simply to have fun and reach 21km over 21 days. How you do it is up to you!!

Why 21km over 3 weeks?

Typically, a baby is born with 46 chromosomes. Babies with Down syndrome have an extra copy of one of these chromosomes, chromosome 21, hence the 21km.  Babies with Down Syndrome are born with 3 copies of chromosome 21 (rather than the usual two), hence the 3 weeks/ 21 days!

Cost of the event?

€10 for an individual

€20 for a family

There will also be an option to donate further when you register or an option to set up an iDonate page to raise funds.

We would love to hear about your progress.  Join us on our virtual challenge social media groups, connect with fellow participants, share your photos and stories on how you are progressing.

4 Peak Challenge

A big Thank you to Derek & Ian Primrose for choosing our Branch as part of their fabulous Fundraiser.

If you would like to support the fundraiser for these very worthy causes you can do so online (details below) or alternatively you can contribute in person 🙂

You can donate online via the following GoFundMe page:
https://ie.gofundme.com/f/derek-amp-ian-primrose039s-48hr-4

All funds raised will be split equally between Nobber Cancer Support Group and DownSyndrome LouthMeath.

Derek and Ian are taking on a bit of a challenge this June to raise much needed funds for two brilliant local charities – Nobber Cancer Support Group and DownSyndrome LouthMeath. They are hiking the highest peak in each province in Ireland in just 48-hours!

As I’m sure many of you are aware, Nobber Cancer Support Group and DownSyndrome LouthMeath both provide much needed support and services to people in our local community. The services and support they make available make a big difference to the lives of those who benefit from them and every donation, no matter how small, helps to enable them to continue to operate. We would be very grateful for your help in making this fundraising effort a big success!!

TREDAGH SINGERS SUMMER CONCERT

TREDAGH SINGERS SUMMER CONCERT on Friday 31st May at 8 pm  in the Augustinian Church, Shop Street, Drogheda.

This is the fourth year that the Tredagh Singers have very kindly  donated ALL the proceeds of their Summer Concert to our branch.  In return they would like to see as many people there as possible, so even if you can’t make it, is there any member of your family or a friend who would like to come?  It is always a lovely evening and this year they have the Celtic Choir Berlin visiting and they specialise in traditional songs from Ireland and the United Kingdom. There will also be a raffle on the night with some very good prizes.  As we all know the branch is in urgent need of funds, so any support you can give us would be really great.  With many thanks in advance and best wishes.

Tickets are on sale at the door on the night, in the Augustinian Church Shop and in Sage & Stone in Duleek or from me, Clare, on 087 6383477 or clareleonard45@gmail.com
